This is a qualification that is designed for candidates involved in the transport and delivery of goods. The standard is for drivers of vehicles including Categories C and C+E.

NVQ in logistics are work based learning qualifications designed to recognise and enhance the skills of persons from the logistics and transport sectors.

The aim is to on completion provide a recognised NVQ qualification to assist in their duty and role and provide a platform for future advancement.

Designed for:

  1. Persons engaged in various sectors of the transport and logistics industry, who wish to gain certification and have their competency recognised.
  2. New employees who have undergone basic training and who are now gaining industry experience with a view to gaining a recognised qualification.
  3. Persons wishing to gain a full understanding of the industry

Candidates have the opportunity to develop skills within all aspects of industry which will assist in gaining the NVQ

These may include:

  • Loading and unloading of goods
  • Storage of goods and materials
  • Warehousing
  • Resourcing materials and equipment
  • Transportation of individual or multi drop loads
  • Safety
  • Delivery of goods internationally by road
  • Quality
  • Stock control and auditing stock levels
  • Stock record keeping
  • Planning

CORE UNITS:

  1. Monitoring loading of vehicle by others
  2. Completion of pre-drive preparations
  3. Maintain the safety of any load and include the security of the load, yourself, passenger and property.
  4. Driving awareness including conditions
  5. Competency in operation of vehicle systems
  6. Practical driving assessment on public road
  7. Driving and operating in restricted spaces

Operational Units:

  1. Coupling and uncoupling vehicle
  2. Obtaining and understanding information relating to load collections and delivery
  3. Loading and safe transport of load
  4. Route planning, timings for load collections and delivery
